FW: The Tapestry Has Moved!
The Tapestry Has Moved!

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to remind all of you out there that as of this week, we are at our new location. This week is a trial week and it is going to be a ton of fun. And the next week, June 8th will be our 4th Anniversary service (with a picnic, balloon launch, and free stuff!). You will not want to miss it!!!! So, just to bring everyone up to speed, we are NO LONGER meeting at Twinbrook Community Church and at Church in Bethesda (Bethesda Baptist Church).
We are meeting at Rockview Elementary School. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=3901+Denfeld+Ave,+Kensington,+MD+20895,+USA&sa=X&oi=map&ct=title
Also, our times have officially changed to:
Sunday AM Service – 11am
Sunday PM Service – 5pm
We have made these changes to correspond with our constant search for our own final building and the plan to phase us into our permanent location down the road.
This summer we have tons of events planned as well.
- Our Tapestry Summer Cookout Series
- The Tapestry Reserve Campout
- Seminars
- New Member’s Classes
- Beach Trip
- Sesame Place Trip
- Outreaches & Ministry Events
- Tons of Guest speakers
- Mexico Mission Trip
- And so much more!
We have just had the Progressive Dinner and the Vineyard Leader’s Conference this past couple of weeks and they were both HUGE successes!
So, if you feel alone, it’s not our fault. Come hang out with us at the Tapestry and get CONNECTED!
Blessings!

Thought of the Week 5-23-2008

“The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise grows it under his feet.”
-James Oppenheim

Let us not wait until tomorrow to take action. For tomorrow will never be today. Embrace your present and truly LIVE! Today is the day you will be happy. Today is the day you will live. Today is the day of adventure. The most of life is either lived on the ascent or decent. Why wait to experience life only on the brief point of the apex? – Just a recurring thought I’ve been having. -dh

“For most of a century, idealistic people have been encouraged to use anger, protest, lobbying, and legal action in order to make the world a better place. While most certainly some of these behaviors and activities were necessary, we have reached the point at which the social benefit of such behaviors is decreasing. We have reached the point at which creation, rather than attack, ought to be the first obligation of reformers. The social entrepreneurship movement is the first tip of this iceberg.”
-Michael Strong
Good News of the Day:
Mike Hannigan and Sean Marx started a company with an unusual mission: donate all profits to charity. As they grew to sales of more than $26 million, Hannigan and Marx often wished for additional capital to help fuel that growth but stayed away from outside investors for fear of undermining their philanthropic mission. Now, they’ve found a solution to their dilemma — writing their values into their company’s legal structure as something called a "B corporation." B corporations, with the "B" standing for "beneficial", must receive a passing grade on a long scorecard that covers environmental practices, employment practices, purchasing policies and whether their products are beneficial to society. They must also adopt legal language stating that their directors may consider the welfare of outside stakeholders such as employees, customers, their community and the environment, as well as the financial interest of shareholders. Be The Change:
Tell a budding entrepreneur about the possibility of a B corporation.
I just thought this was extremely cool and wanted to share it. I want to be the kind of entrepreneur that starts these kinds of socially responsible organizations that inspire change. I think this is the way to make a difference.
I believe not in aggressive action, but faithful belief along with positive attitudes and affirmation. I believe that a slight change in our perspective will show that the future hangs not on a government’s legislation, but her people’s desire and commitment to positive action.
I believe that it will be people of faith, hope and love that drive this movement. We need a reformation!

I have all kinds of great stuff there and look forward to seeing you later! Blessings! Original post by PD . No commentsFollow-Up on Sonia’s Race in DCI want to send a big thank you to EVERYONE for their generosity and support! The Brain Tumor Society walk was a huge success this year! Not only did I surpass my goal of raising $1000; there were over 8,000 participants (the largest race to date) and over 200 survivors who raced. I rounded out the top 50 list for the survivors - not too bad, but I plan on improving my time next year (training has already begun)! The race website generated over $1.75 million in donations. We were also told at the race that a single, anonymous donor gave an additional $1 million dollars - so this year’s race raised close to $3 million total!! This is an exciting time for the Brain Tumor community; awareness and support is increasing. I am so blessed to have all of you in my life; I couldn’t have contributed so much to this race without you! To the walkers and to the donors alike, I want to thank you again for making my 10 year survivor anniversary so special! I had an awesome day that I will never forget!! Sonia L. Calcagno No comments
